I am a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Technology and Civic Leadership in the Carter School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech. I also co-direct the Immigration Law Lab at Emory, where I recently completed my PhD in political science. My research considers how technology and innovation shape access to justice for marginalized groups in American legal institutions. I currently study the origins and impact of video teleconferencing technology in United States immigration courts. I co-founded and organize the Junior Law and Politics Research Community. I also contribute to the Deportation Data Project. https://www.devonthurman.com/community daily 0.75 2025-09-17 https://www.devonthurman.com/research daily 0.75 2025-09-28 https://www.devonthurman.com/new-page daily 0.75 2023-08-07 https://www.devonthurman.com/teaching-2 daily 0.75 2025-09-18 https://www.devonthurman.com/welcome-1 daily 0.75 2025-09-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62adfcfdf951920a263c7a88/8a18e351-0e59-4968-b115-d24b02f84d54/IMG_9682.png SERVICE - Here are a few groups fighting for social and political equality I work with or support: El Refugio (Family and Community Support for Detained Immigrants) Innovation Law Lab (Immigrant and Refugee Justice) Deportation Data Project (Transparency in Immigration Enforcement Data) Bike & Build (Affordable Housing) https://www.devonthurman.com/teaching daily 0.75 2025-09-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62adfcfdf951920a263c7a88/e7cd62c2-9aa0-405b-aeaa-8f7e46f4eed1/IMG_2217+2.png TEACHING - This spring at Emory, I will be teaching Civil Liberties and Planning Community Initiatives.
